Marañon creates improvisational quilts, surface patterns and designs that explore landscapes, repetition and subconscious self-reflection. Her work is recognized for innovating from within traditional methods, with quilt structures that often disrupt their historical utilitarian purpose. Questioning boundaries between the delicate and the durable, the ephemeral and cyclical, Marañon’s work challenges notions of art and function.

On the same night, and in an adjacent gallery space will be Quilts From the Heart, a local group of volunteer quilters, both women and men, who make and donate quilts to needy children and adults. The group was started in 2004 by Evie Steinburg. Since, they have produced hundreds of quilts which have been donated to local organizations that serve the underprivileged.
